How to Use the BITS College Predictor

Understanding Probability Scores

Our BITS College Predictor uses a 5-level probability system to indicate your chances of admission to each program at each campus. Here's what each probability level means:

Very High (90-100%)

Your BITSAT score is significantly above the typical cutoff for this program-campus combination. Based on historical data across multiple iterations, you have an excellent chance of being admitted. These are programs you should strongly consider including high on your preference list.

High (70-89%)

Your BITSAT score is comfortably above the typical cutoff for this program-campus combination. You have a good chance of admission, though not as certain as the "Very High" category. These programs should still be considered as strong options in your preference list.

Medium (40-69%)

Your BITSAT score is close to the typical cutoff range for this program-campus combination. Your admission chances are moderate - you might get in, but it's not guaranteed. Consider these as programs where admission is possible but not certain.

Low (20-39%)

Your BITSAT score is slightly below the typical cutoff range. Admission is unlikely but not impossible, especially in later iterations if cutoffs drop. These programs could be included as backup options lower on your preference list.

Very Low (0-19%)

Your BITSAT score is significantly below the typical cutoff range. Based on historical patterns, admission is highly unlikely even in final iterations. It may be better to focus on other programs or campuses where you have better chances.

Important Note: These probability scores are estimates based on historical data and trends. Actual cutoffs can vary from year to year based on factors like number of applicants, difficulty of the BITSAT exam, and changes in number of available seats. The predictions are generally more accurate for the current year's admission cycle than for future years.

Understanding the BITS Admission Process

BITSAT Examination

The BITS Admission Test (BITSAT) is a computer-based online test for admission to all BITS campuses:

  • 3-hour computer-based test with 150 questions
  • Sections include Physics, Chemistry, English Proficiency, Logical Reasoning, and Mathematics
  • Maximum score of 390 points (3 points per correct answer, -1 for incorrect answers)
  • No direct board marks criteria for admission (unlike many other institutions)

Iteration-Based Admission System

BITS uses a unique iteration-based admission system:

  • Multiple iterations (usually 5-6) of seat allocation occur

Dual Degree Program

  • Students admitted to M.Sc. programs can pursue B.E. as their second degree
  • Selection for dual degree based on CGPA after first year
  • Dual degree students graduate with both an M.Sc. and B.E. degree
  • Total duration is typically 5 years
